This portrait was inspired by Vermeer’s Girl with Pearl Earing.  Michelle Frances’ intent was to recreate the masterwork but with a new face, Isabel’s face.   The most difficult aspect of the Vermeer to recreate was the lighting.  Vermeer is famous for his use of light and dark; it is not an easy thing to replicate.
